Carlsbad, CA – April 5, 2020:
Co-Vents was officially launched on April 3, 2020 by a team of ventilator experts deeply concerned about our country’s short-term need for ventilators to combat COVID-19. Our team is focused on closing the short-term gap on ventilators while current ventilator manufacturers, General Motors, Ford and Tesla ramp production.
“Our team could not stand by and watch patients suffer without access to ICU ventilators” said Paul Woodring, CEO and Co-Founder of Co-Vents. “Over the past 3 decades, we have designed, built, manufactured and sold the leading ventilators in the world. We have assembled an all-star roster from those businesses to help fill this 90-day ventilator gap for our country while new ventilator production ramps up.”
The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has estimated that there are over 100K ventilators that have been retired from active service in the United States. BCG has further determined that over 20K of these ventilators could be quickly returned to active service.
Co-Vents has been formed as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation that can accept donations to help accelerate our mission. With our first large private grant, we will be returning our first ventilators this week. The team is actively working with states and the Coronavirus task force on this life saving mission.
“Our team is passionate about bridging the ventilator supply gap for COVID-19 patients. Every ventilator that we return to service will represent lives our team has helped save” said Michael Raymer Co-Founder.
